Compared to last week, trade activity and demand light to moderate.
According to the U.S Drought Monitor’s High Plains Summary released October 8,
2019, cooler than normal temperatures and the first freeze for the season were
widespread throughout the region. Temperatures were 3 to 6 degrees below normal
for most of the area. Above-normal precipitation was recorded over much of the
Dakotas, eastern Nebraska and most of Kansas. Drier than normal conditions were
reported over Colorado, western Nebraska, and southwest South Dakota. The region
had abnormally dry conditions expand over eastern Colorado and slight
improvement to the abnormally dry conditions over western Wyoming. According to
the NASS Colorado Crop Progress report for week ending October 6, 2019, stored
feed supplies were rated 2 percent short, 85 percent adequate, and 13 percent
surplus with 3rd cutting alfalfa progress at 95 percent harvested and 4th
cutting at 48 percent harvested. The next available report will be Thursday,
October 17, 2019. All prices reported are FOB at the stack or barn unless
