Week ending Nov 18, 2019
Compared to last week hay steady. Demand was moderate for local sales
and good demand noted on hay leaving the state for horse clients. Some
contacts stated their hay sheds are almost empty as they have been
shipping hay at a rapid pace. Many contacts usually have hay in their
sheds till after the first of the year. But, some say they will be
cleaned out way before then. January like temps across most of the state
this week, several reports it has halted farming and most outside work.
Most think they will get back into the fields by the first of next week.
Some corn on the ground in some area after strong winds prevailed on
Monday. Some corn will be saved but there are a few reports that near 100
bushels of corn lost on the ground. Light snow on the ground in some
areas with some producers waiting for the snow to melt so they can finish
baling hay for the 2019 season. Note: “All prices are dollars per ton
FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted.”
