Nebraska Hay Summary

Week Ending Nov 01, 2019

Compared to last week alfalfa hay sold mostly steady instances 5.00
higher in the panhandle. Grass hay and ground and delivered hay sold
steady. Demand was light to moderate with good demand noted on large
squares of alfalfa going to out of state buyers in the eastern part of
the USA. Grass hay and ground and delivered hay steady. Quite a few
balers in the field this fall wrapping up cornstalks and bean stubble.
Some still baling cane and a few finished up on last cutting of alfalfa
this week. Harvest has slowed this week due to the light snow in many
areas but warmer temps are in the forecast and farmers should get back to
combining by weeks close. Different parts of the state have reported
several bushels of corn on the ground. Some fields worse than others
across the state from the high winds reported on Monday. Note: “All sales
are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
All reported prices are confirmed sold prices.”
