Ground/Grinding alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central
Tonnage: 12,630/6,453 Last week: 10,810/6,270 Last year: 8,348/3,081
Hay market trade was slow to moderate, demand was slow to moderate, and
prices mostly steady. Rain that fell across the state, once again slowed the
progress of the farmer. Prior to last week’s precipitation, all were busy
harvesting and planting. More seasonal temperatures have moved in and fall is
definitely in the air. The “S” word has even been batted around for the
extreme northwest region later in the week. Abnormally dry (D0) and moderate
drought (D1) conditions, remain concentrated in the southwest region, with D0
at 14 pct. and D1 at 5 pct. If you have any extra hay to sell and/or need hay
