South Dakota Weekly Hay Summary

All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.

Compared to last week: Alfalfa hay steady to firm, grass not well
tested. Very good demand for alfalfa in large square bales from out
of state buyers, demand more moderate from in state buyers. Warm, drying
weather early in the week was replaced with more rain East River and
substantial snow in Western and Central SD. The weather has not been
cooperative for cutting and baling of cover crops again this week.
Supply of dairy quality hay, especially in a large square bale, is rather
limited, much more plentiful supply of large round bales of lower quality
hay. All hay and straw sold by the ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.
