Week ending 01/12/2018 Quite the roller coaster of weather over the last week. As the a break in the freezing weather took place on Tuesday and Wednesday with many areas seeing he mercury climb above 60 only to plummet on Thursday back to below freezing. Some winter precipitation made travel a bit sketchy but most just glad to see some moisture finally arriving. Interest in hay has picked up a slightly with the cold temperatures the last few weeks. The best interest is for better quality hay coming from horse owners and prices have crept up ever so slightly as that type of hay become less abundant. Hay supplies are moderate, demand is light to moderate and prices are steady to firm. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for listings of hay http://agebb.missouri.edu/haylst/ (All prices f.o.b. and per ton unless specified and on most recent reported sales price listed as round bales based generally on 5x6 bales with weights of approximately 1200-1500 lbs).
