Wyoming Hay Summary

Week ending January 19, 2018

  Compared to last week alfalfa hay sold fully steady to 10.00 higher. A 
lot of the increase on this week’s market came from out of state 
feedlots.  Most of the sales quoted “per the bale” is going to horse 
owners. Normal weather pattern this week with a tick of a warm up before 
the snow moves in over the weekend.  All prices dollars per ton FOB the 
field or hay barn unless otherwise noted. Prices are from the most recent 
reported sales. 

Eastern Wyoming 
  Alfalfa: Good large square bales 150.00; Good large round bales 145.00. 
Alfalfa/grass mix: Premium large square bales 150.00 with some selling at 
60.00-70.00 per bale, Premium small square bales 7.00 per bale; Fair to 
good large square bales 120.00. Grass Hay: Large round bales 140.00 
delivered. Cornstalks in large square bales 55.00.
   
Central and Western Wyoming
  Alfalfa: Supreme large square bales 160.00. Good large square bales 
100.00-120.00. Premium small square bales 6.00 per bale. Alfalfa/grass 
mix: Good large square bales 100.00-120.00. Certified weed seed free 
alfalfa cubes 220.00-260.00.
