Compared to last week: All classes traded steady with moderate demand.
According to the NASS Crop Progress report 9/13/18, an upper level trough made
its way across the state during work week. There were dry conditions as well as
a cooling trend, in which temperatures dropped to below normal levels. By the
weekend, temperatures began to rebound to near normal levels. The northern
counties of the state experienced slightly cooler temperatures as a shortwave
moved through over the weekend. A few showers were reported late Sunday in the
vicinity of Crescent City. Temperature highs ranged from the upper 60s to lower
90s in the mountains, lower 70s to upper 80s in the sierras, upper 80s to mid
90s in the Central Valley, low 70s to upper 100s along the coast, and mid 70s to
low 110s in the desert. Low temperatures ranged from mid 20s to upper 40s in
the Sierras, lower 30s to upper 40s in the mountains, upper 40s to upper 50s in
the Central Valley, mid 40s to low 60s along the coast, and upper 40s to low 70s
in the desert. In the Sacramento Valley, rice harvest began, alfalfa was cut
and baled, and corn was harvested for silage. Sunflower harvest continued in
Sutter County. In Tulare County, cotton bloomed and bolls were set, alfalfa was
cut and baled, and corn and sorghum were harvested for silage. Hay is reported
