Week Ending September 28, 2018
Compared to last week alfalfa and grass hay sold unevenly steady.
Ground and delivered products and dehy pellets sold steady. Demand was
light to moderate. Many contacts are on their 4th cutting of alfalfa with
some thinking of cutting a 5th in some areas of the state. Some counties
in the Panhandle and in Central Nebraska received some frost on Wednesday
morning. A lot of farmers and feed-yards are busy with combining
soybeans, high moisture corn and silage. Some native grass hay producers
continue to dodge water holes and harvest tall, mature grass for feeding
purposes this winter. Hay quality isn’t the best right now, but it’s
better than nothing!! All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay
barn, unless otherwise noted.
