Iowa Hay Summary

Week Ending  September 7, 2018
In a week that saw Iowa get washed away by rain, good quality hay was nearly impossible
to find.  Both small and large squares were nearly non-existant.  Fewer small squares 
wer marketed as more growers of forage move to larger balers.  Fewer large bales were 
available, an indicator that buyers were readily buying beter quality forage as it the 
markets.  The third cutting of hay was pushed back as rain totals across the state ranged 
as high as 13 inches in less than a 4-day period.
