Week Ending September 21, 2018 Compared to last week all reported forages sold steady. Demand was light to moderate with many prospective buyers and sellers are busy with fall forage production. A lot of farmers are getting into the fields to start picking soybeans, high moisture corn and silage. Others are on 3rd or 4th cutting of alfalfa and some have been cutting cane or millet hay. This week has been one of the most production weeks for hay production all summer. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted. Eastern/Central Nebraska Alfalfa: Good large squares 160.00-180.00. Good to premium large rounds 130.00; Good large rounds 80.00-100.00. Grass Hay: Good large rounds 100.00-105.00. Premium small square bales 160.00-170.00. Rye Straw large rounds 75.00. 2017 round bales of cornstalk 60.00. Dehy Alfalfa pellets 17 percent protein 230.00-240.00. Platte Valley area of Nebraska Alfalfa: Good round bales 100.00 to 105.00. Ground and delivered alfalfa 130.00-135.00. Ground and delivered alfalfa-cornstalk mix 130.00.
