Compared to last week, trade activity and demand moderate. Corn sileage is getting harvested in the northeast and southeast Colorado areas. Producers in the San Luis Valley are starting to bring potatoes out of the field, limiting hay trade with 3rd cutting to start late next week. In southeast Colorado areas, recent rainfall has improved quality potential for 4th cutting. According to the NASS Colorado Crop Progress report for week ending September 9, 2018, stored feed supplies were rated 5 percent very short, 16 percent short, 77 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. 3rd cutting alfalfa progress is at 74 percent, 4th cutting 13 percent.
