Colorado Hay Report

   Compared to last week, trade activity light on moderate demand.  According to 
the U.S. Drought Monitor’s West Drought Summary for November 13, 2018, in the 
Rockies, widespread snow showers were observed in the Front Range and adjacent 
foothills as well as in the Sangre de Cristo Range, leading to improvements on 
the map in north-central and south-central Colorado. Overall, Colorado’s 
snowpack is off to a positive start with above-normal snow water equivalent 
(SWE) levels in the Front Range, Sangre de Cristos, and the Mosquito Range of 
central Colorado.  According to the NASS Colorado Crop Progress report for week 
ending November 11, 2018, stored feed supplies were rated 11 percent very short, 
20 percent short, 61 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus.  4th cutting 
alfalfa hay was at 83 percent harvested and Pasture and Range conditions were 
rated 28 percent Very Poor, 25 percent Poor, 19 percent Fair, 23 percent Good, 
and 5 percent Excellent.  USDA NRCS Colorado SNOTEL River Basin Index 
percentages for Thursday, November 15, 2018:  Gunnison 93, Upper Colorado 131, 
South Platte 165, Laramie and North Platte 115, Yampa and White 109, Arkansas 
156, Upper Rio Grande 112, and San Miguel, Dolores, Animas and San Juan 89.  Due 
to the Thanksgiving Holiday, the next available report will be Thursday, 
November 29, 2018.  All prices reported are FOB at the stack or barn unless 
otherwise noted.  Prices reflect load lots of hay.  If you have hay for sale or
