Week Ending November 2, 2018
Hay buyers have moved to the "hand to mouth" buying experience as better quality of hay
was limited this past week. The Iowa weather has been tough on grower and little high
quality hay was marketed in Iowa this year. Based on last year, hay producers may have
stored hay with plans to sell hay at a premium compared to current prices. Weather
continues to be beneficial in Iowa for harvesting and some producers have managed to
bale a 4th cutting of hay. Although this 4th crop of hay has been sparse, it has been
some of the better hay baled this year.
