Nebraska Hay Summary

Week Ending November 09, 2018

Compared to last week alfalfa and grass hay sold steady. Ground and
delivered products steady to 10.00 higher and dehy pellets sold steady to
5.00 higher. Buyer inquiry and demand picked up in most areas of the
state. Snow in some areas of the state with roughly 5-12 inches from
Holdrege to Trenton fell on Thursday with other areas of the state
receiving zero to 2 inches of accumulation. Quite a few reports that
cornstalk bales are a lot cleaner with less inert matter than previous
years. This may change after the recent snow that will mat stalks to the
ground. Farmers still busy with harvest across the state. Noting a lot of
corn and soybeans are bagged at the edge of the field this year. Some hay
producers still trying to finish up with cane and millet hay. All sales
are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
