Alfalfa trade was slow and movement very slow. Demand was mostly light to
moderate and the bulk of interest came from feedlots and grow yards. Demand
from dairies remained very light. Grass hay demand also fairly limited and
buyers very selective for quality and condition of grass hay. Prices were fully
steady on alfalfa, largely untested on grass hay. Wheat planting reached
78 percent completed this week, 10 percent below average. Winter wheat
emergence reached 68 percent, unchanged from last year but 32 percent below
normal.
Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state
and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage
at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call
at 1-405-522-3753 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov.
