Iowa Hay Summary

Week Ending January 11, 2019

At first glance it may appear that hay and straw prices are weakening. However, the
lower prices are more a reflection on the quality being sold. The amount of Iowa grown
top quality alfalfa appears to be limited with most of the "better" hay being brought
in from out of state. December temperatures in Iowa appear to be higher than normal,
while snow fall amounts appear to be lower than average.
