Weekly Texas Hay Report

   Compared to last report:  Most hay classes traded fully steady; except 
for Alfalfa sold instances 10.00 lower.  The decrease in Alfalfa prices 
mostly due to seller’s reducing prices to move hay stored in the barns to 
make room for upcoming new crop.  Freight of hauling Coastal Bermuda to 
the Panhandle still causing a wide spread in the prices but is preferred 
to start calves in feed lots on.  Coastal Producers in the east and south 
Texas reporting that there is little hay left that isn’t contracted or 
sold already as supplemental feeding is in full swing.  Prices for hay 
and pellets quoted per ton except where noted.
