Most hay classes remain steady

In Nebraska, alfalfa hay, grass hay, ground and delivered hay and dehydrated pellets sold steady. Demand was moderate to good across the state, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jan. 18. Prices given on per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.
Eastern/central—Premium alfalfa, large squares, $180; good large squares, $140-$160, large rounds, $100-$115; fair, large rounds, $72.50-$87.50. Premium alfalfa/orchard mix, large rounds, $120. Premium grass hay, large rounds, $100-$105, small squares, $160-$170; good, large rounds, $85-$90; fair, large rounds, $65-$75. Cornstalk bales, $60-$65, few at $70. Cane, in large rounds, $80. Platte Valley—Good alfalfa, rounds, $100-$110. Cornstalk bales, $60-$65. Ground and delivered alfalfa, $140-$145. Ground and delivered alfalfa-stubble mix, $130-$135. In South Dakota, East River and West River areas, alfalfa and grass steady with lower undertones as inventory of high quality hay dwindles. Good demand for hay with cold winter weather and snow returned to the area.

In Missouri, hay prices are steady. Hay demand is moderate to good.

In Oklahoma, alfalfa trade was slow to moderate this week. Movement mostly moderate. Dairy demand was mostly light.

In Texas, all hay classes traded fully steady. Alfalfa supply remains moderate while the cheaper rations are about all contracted or used up for now.
