Week ending 1/04/2019
Although temperatures have been freezing at nights the days are still
warming enough that mud continues to be much more of an issue than snow
so far this feeding season. There continues to be a lot of folks looking
for hay but generally it seems to be smaller producers looking for a few
small squares or one or two big rounds. There is hay for sale but
distance seems to be the problem unlike most years many are having to go
farther than they are used too and not just to a nearby neighbor. After
the dry summer most local farmers just do not have any surplus to part
with. The supply of hay light to moderate. Hay prices are steady. Hay
demand is moderate to good. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a
hay directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for
a directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for listings of hay
http://agebb.missouri.edu/haylst/ (All prices f.o.b. and per ton unless
