Week ending 2/15/2019
Another week of weather extremes in the state which pretty much seems to
be the norm. One thing we know for certain is the days are getting longer
and perhaps not soon enough but spring will eventually come. Even though
there is still plenty of feeding days left there has been some new hay
showing up in the market. Seems some farmers feel they might have a bit
extra and given the currently price levels have become more willing to
part with some average to lower quality before new crop hay arrives and
potential larger supplies cause prices to fall. The supply of hay light
to moderate. Hay prices are steady. Hay demand is moderate to good. The
Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for both
buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory visit
http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for listings of hay
