Washington-Oregon (Columbia Basin) Weekly Hay Report

Tons: 275 Last Week: 975 Last Year: 2865

Compared to last Friday, Domestic and Export Alfalfa firm in a light test.
Trade slow. Inclement weather conditions affecting movement in the trade area.
Dairies are forced to dump milk due to the passes to the west side being closed
most of this past week and processors not being able to ship product due to
inclement weather conditions. Exporters are also facing the same dilemma with
shipping hay containers to the port. High death losses and other injuries reported
in dairy cows and baby calves. Demand excellent as remaining supplies are in firm
hands. Retail/Feed store steady. All prices are dollars per ton and FOB the farm
or ranch unless otherwise stated. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and
other expenses.
