Alfalfa trade was moderate, limited by light supplies and offerings.
Movement moderate to fairly active with the bulk of movement coming from
out-of-state. Demand was good for all offerings. Increased hay movement
is currently making it difficult for some buyers to find trucks in a
timely manner. Alfalfa prices are steady to firm with most sales taking
place at the upper end of ranges. Grass hay trading continued mostly
active although offerings are much lighter. A great deal of lower quality,
older hay is on the market and buyers are being very selective.
Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state
and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage
at www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call
at 1-405-522-3753 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov.
