Ground/Grinding alfalfa movement: Southwest/South Central
Tonnage: 7,767/5,533 Last week: 8,945/6,622 Last year: 9,288/5,684
Hay market trade slowed last week, activity and demand is slow to moderate.
Prices remained generally steady, however, we continue to see a downward
trend in price for both old and new crop grinding alfalfa. Rain continues to
hamper haying activities and the frustration is evident. Those that have been
able to get alfalfa hay baled are averaging 2.0-3.0 tons per acre. If you
have any extra hay to sell and/or need hay here in Kansas, use the services
of the Internet Hay Exchange: www.hayexchange.com/ks.php.
