Week Ending June 21, 2019
Compared to last week, old crop hay sold steady. Dehy pellets sold 5.00
to 10.00 higher. Buyer inquiry was good for baled hay and for pellets. So
far, summer of 2019 has been very similar to 2018 as there have been a
limited number of sunny days that producers can put up top quality hay.
Tonnage of alfalfa in a large area has been less in many cases for the
first cutting and quite a lot of hay is down and producers are waiting
for sunshine and a tick of wind in order to bale. Some areas of the state
received .50 to 3.00 inches of rain along with hail this week. All sales
are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
