Week ending 6/14/2019
Farmers finally got a bit of a break with the weather. Although numbers
do not reflect what was baled early this week, as they will not show up
until next week’s report, as of Mondays first cutting of Alfalfa is now
at 51 percent complete a gain of 22 percentage points over the previous
week. Other hay was at 27 percent harvested compared to 14 the week
prior. Farmers have been very pleased with yields thus far especially
after the extremely difficult and poor conditions going into harvest last
year. Hay supplies are light to moderate, demand is light to moderate and
prices are steady although sales of new crop hay are still very limited.
The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for
both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or to view the directory visit
