South Dakota Weekly Hay Summary

All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.

***This report will not be released next week due to the Indendence
Day holiday, next report will be July 12, 2019.***

Compared to last week: Alfalfa and grass hay steady to weaker
undertones. Demand rather good for all types of hay. Old crop supplies
are about cleaned up and delayed cutting of new crop hay has caused
demand to be better than it normally is for this time of year. Rains
last week, and now more this week, along with humid weather East River
have kept hay producers in many areas from putting up hay this week.
Persistent rain has pushed hay cutting behind normal schedules. This is
helping to add support to the market but there was a window in recent
weeks where some producers were able to put up some really nice hay which
is helping the available supply. All hay and straw sold by the ton FOB,
unless otherwise noted.
