Week Ending March 16, 2018 For this week: Hay prices trended steady this week. Temperatures this week look to be in the low 50's for the high, with a slight chance of snow this weekend. No accumulation is expected. Iowa experienced extreme temperature flucuations in temperature for the second month in a row with temps ranging from below 0 to 50+ degrees. Grain movement picked up this month as grain prices increased. Livestock producers have been busy with calving. Overall, livestock conditions were reported as normal with some reports of stress on livestock due to the large temperature swings. Ice in feedlots made them hazardous and slowed down movement. According to the Drought Monitor abnormally dry conditions continued to remained steady this week at 26.95%. With only 10.04% seeing moderate drought conditions, which were focused in the south eastern portion of the state. Northeastern Missouri and adjacent southeastern Iowa received light precipitation during the week, with amounts approaching an inch in a few spots. No changes were introduced this week as the region continues to benefit from the heavy precipitation several weeks ago. All prices FOB per ton unless otherwise noted.
