Most hay classes selling steady

In Nebraska, alfalfa and grass hay sold steady. Ground and delivered hay and dehydrated pellets steady. Demand was good to very good across the state with a lot of hay transferring ownership according to the USDA Market News Service, March 9. Prices given on per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.
Eastern/central—Supreme alfalfa, large squares, $200; premium, large squares, $150-$170; good, large squares, $130-$150, large rounds, $90-$95; fair, large squares, $105-$125. Good/premium grass hay, large rounds, $85-$100; premium, small squares grass hay, $150; fair, large rounds, $60-$70. Straw, large squares, $75. Ground and delivered alfalfa, $120. Dehydrated alfalfa pellets, 17% protein, $230.
Platte Valley—Good alfalfa, large rounds $90-$105. Cornstalk bales, $60-$65. Ground and delivered alfalfa, $125-$130. Ground and delivered alfalfa/stover mix, $115-$120. Ground and delivered cornstalks, $85-$90. Dehydrated pellets, 17% protein, $195-$210.
Western—Supreme alfalfa, large squares, $185; good/premium, large squares, $160. Fair/good grass hay, large rounds, $120 delivered. Milo hay with small head in large squares, $110 delivered. In South Dakota, East River and West River areas, all classes of hay continue to hold at steady levels. Demand moderate to good, with best demand seen from West River and farther west.

In Colorado, trade activity light. Demand very good on light trade activity for grass hay due to tight supplies. Limited supply of dairy quality alfalfa hay.
Northeast—Premium/supreme alfalfa, small squares, $275, retail/stable. Premium alfalfa grass mix, medium squares, $333. Premium grass, medium squares, $312.50-$317, retail/stable, small squares, $300, retail/stable; premium, $263. No reported quotes for all other classes of hay.

In Missouri, hay supplies are light to moderate, demand is moderate and prices are steady to firm.

In Oklahoma, alfalfa trade mostly light to moderate this week. Movement was mostly light. Demand was very good for all alfalfa offerings. Dairy demand was mostly moderate with the bulk of demand coming from feedlots and grow yards.
Central—Alfalfa prices mostly $10 higher. Premium alfalfa, large squares, $150-$160; fair/good, round and squares, $120-$130. Good bermuda grass hay, 4 x 5 bales, $40-$55; 5 x 6 bales, $60-$75/bale. Good mixed grass, 4 x 5 rounds, $30-$45/bale.
Eastern—Alfalfa, no sales confirmed. Mixed grass hay, 5 x 6 bales, $40-$50. Good bermuda 5 x 6 bales, $50-$65/bale. Mixed grass, 4 x 5 bales, $30-$40/bale. Good mixed grass or bermuda, small squares, $4-$6/bale.
