Missouri Weekly Hay Summary

Week ending 03/16/2018

Although Spring is drawing closer many in east central and northeast
Missouri were questioning that following 2-4 inches of snow last Saturday.
Areas are greening up but growth so far is slow as warmer temperatures
are needed to give grass a good kick start. Hay piles seem to have really
dwindled over the last month. Not all farmers are out of hay by any means
but many are not overly eager to sale any hay especially if it is good
quality and worth carrying over. There is hay that can be found and bought
but in many cases the hay being offered is lower quality. Hay movement is
light to moderate. Hay supplies are light to moderate, demand is moderate
and prices are firm to higher. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has
a hay directory available for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or
for a directory visit http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for listings of
hay http://agebb.missouri.edu/haylst/ (All prices f.o.b. and per ton unless
