Week ending March 02, 2018 Compared to last week all reported forages sold fully steady to firm. Buyer inquiry and demand picked up this week and many contacts said they are sold out of old crop hay. This could be harmful down the road if there is limited amount of carry over since it’s a long time till the first cutting gets baled. Hay demand has also been very good in Nebraska and most producers are out of hay or have a limited supply left to sell. Winter weather with some warm up across different areas of the state this week. It may not look or feel like it out side, but, by the calendar, we are getting closer to spring and warmer temperatures. Some cattlemen are calving with other just getting ready to start in the near future. All prices are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted. Prices are from the most recent reported sales. Eastern Wyoming Alfalfa: Good large square bales 160.00. Alfalfa/grass mix: Good large squares 65.00 per bale. Sun-cured alfalfa pellets 15 percent protein 215.00-225.00. Central and Western Wyoming Alfalfa: Supreme large square bales 160.00. Good large square bales 140.00; Premium small square bales 180.00-200.00. Certified weed seed free alfalfa cubes 220.00-260.00.
