Most hay classes generally steady

In Nebraska, alfalfa hay sold fully steady to $5 higher. Grass hay sold fully steady. Ground and delivered hay steady to $5 higher. Dehydrated pellets steady. Demand was good to very good across the state with quite a lot of out of state interest trying to procure hay, according to the USDA Market News Service, March 2. Prices given on per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.
Eastern/central—Premium alfalfa, large squares, $150-$170; good, large squares, $130-$150, large rounds, $90-$95, small squares, $6/bale; fair, large squares, $125. Fair/good alfalfa grass mix, large rounds, $75. Good/premium grass hay, large rounds, $85-$100; premium, small squares grass hay, $150; fair, large rounds, $60-$70. In South Dakota, East River and West River areas, all classes of hay trading steady to firm. Demand moderate to good, with best demand seen from West River and farther west.

In Colorado, trade activity light. Demand very good on light trade activity for grass hay due to tight supplies. Limited supply of dairy quality alfalfa hay.
