Week ending March 09, 2018 Compared to last week alfalfa and grass hay sold steady. Demand was good with all reporting contacts stating they have had a lot of calls this week from customers looking for hay to procure. Some hay from the northern area of the state is going to Montana where there has been a lot of snow and various types of livestock are needing extra feed. Several reporting contacts are sold out of hay. Some cattlemen are calving with other just getting ready to start. All prices are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted. Prices are from the most recent reported sales. Eastern Wyoming Alfalfa: Good to Premium large square bales 160.00. Alfalfa/grass mix: Good large squares 65.00 per bale. Sun-cured alfalfa pellets 15 percent protein 215.00-225.00. Central and Western Wyoming Alfalfa: Supreme large square bales 160.00; Good large square bales 140.00; Fair large square bales 100.00. Premium small square bales 180.00-200.00. Certified weed seed free alfalfa cubes 220.00-260.00. Grass hay: Premium small square bales 200.00. Good large square bales 75.00 from high-elevation.
