According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for February 27, 2018, abnormally dry conditions improved in parts of eastern Nebraska, north-central Nebraska, southeast South Dakota, northeast Colorado, and southwest Nebraska. The USDA NRCS National Water and Climate Center’s Colorado SNOTEL Snow/Precipitation Update Report for Thursday, March 1, 2018 has the Gunnison River Basin Snow Water Equivalent at 62 percent, the Upper Colorado River basin at 83 percent, the South Platte River Basin at 89 percent, the Laramie and North Platte River Basins at 89 percent, the Yampa and White River Basins at 80 percent, the Arkansas River Basin at 63 percent, the Upper Rio Grande Basin at 57 percent and the San Miguel, Dolores, Animas and San Juan River Basins at 53 percent as a percent of the median of all SNOTEL sites in each basin compared to previous years.
