Colorado Hay Report

   Compared to last week, trade active on good demand for small squares of grass 
hay.  Trade activity and demand moderate on alfalfa hay.  According to the U.S 
Drought Monitor for July 3, 2018, 79.54 percent of the state falls in a D0-D4 
Drought Category compared to 14.42 percent a year ago.  Of those percentages, 
52.31 percent falls into the D2-D4 categories.  The NASS Colorado Crop progress 
report for week ending July 1, 2018, stored feed supplies were rated 13 percent 
very short, 23 percent short, 63 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.  1st 
cutting Alfalfa hay progress is at 91 percent, 2nd cutting 8 percent.  Pasture 
and range conditions percentages are 21 percent Very Poor, 30 percent Poor, 24 
percent Fair, 23 percent Good, and 2 percent Excellent.  The next available 
report will be Thursday, July 12, 2018.  All prices reported are FOB at the 
stack or barn unless otherwise noted.  Prices reflect load lots of hay.  If you
