Wyoming Hay Summary

Week ending July 06, 2018

   Compared to last week premium alfalfa mix hay sold 5.00 to 10.00 
higher. Straight alfalfa sold fully steady. Demand was good from the 
local productions areas and from out of state buyers.  Some areas around 
Riverton received a rare hail storm early in the week. Reports the storm 
blew down the Missouri Valley Rd area with the storm 3 miles wide and 15 
miles long with reports of up to 6” on hail on the ground in many areas. 
Damage was occurred on everything it its path. Total damage still is 
being determined by producers and insurance adjusters. Some hay producers 
noted that flatbed trucks are hard to find to haul hay. All prices are 
dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn unless otherwise noted. Prices 
are from the most recent reported sales. 

Eastern Wyoming 
Alfalfa: Good Large Squares 165.00; Fair Large Squares 150.00. 
Alfalfa/Grass: Premium Large Squares 185.00-190.00 or 85.00 per bale, 
Good large squares 145.00-150.00; Fair large squares 130.00.  Sun-cured 
alfalfa pellets 15 percent protein 235.00.  
   
Central and Western Wyoming
Alfalfa: Premium large squares 190.00; Premium small squares 200.00. Fair 
to Good Large Squares 130.00-140.00; Utility to Fair Large Squares 125.00 
delivered. Alfalfa/Orchard Grass: Premium Small Squares 200.00. Rye/Teff 
Grass mix: Good large squares 130.00. Certified weed seed free alfalfa 
cubes 230.00-260.00.
