All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack. Compared to last week: Hay prices continue to hold at mostly steady levels. Demand and interest has been good, with some producers reporting that they have sold more new crop hay so far than they normally do for this time of year. High quality alfalfa is in very good demand, as there is limited available supply as the weather has been very challenging to get high quality feed put up. Another band of moisture moved across portions of the state late week bringing varying amounts of rain. Wheat harvest has started, and some new crop straw is starting to be available. 1st cutting is essentially completed on the eastern half of the state and 2nd cutting is in full swing, while the western half of the state is nearing completion of 1st cutting on dry land. The Drought Monitor map improved greatly from last week, with 22 percent of the state in Abnormally Dry to Moderate Drought conditions. The most severe areas continues to be a large pocket around Aberdeen and Huron, with no drought conditons shown for West River. All hay and straw sold by the ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.
