Compared to last week, prices were steady with activity and demand good in all classes. The NASS Colorado Crop Progress and Condition report for the week ending September 3, 2017 states that dry, windy, and hot weather seen throughout the state this past week caused a decline in soil moisture supplies, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. Pasture and Range conditions were rated 1 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 52 percent good, and 11 percent excellent. Alfalfa crop condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 13 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 3 percent excellent. Alfalfa third cutting is 66 percent complete and fourth cutting is 3 percent complete. All prices reported are FOB at the stack or barn unless otherwise noted. Prices reflect load lots of hay.
