Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market

All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.

Compared to last week: Alfalfa prices continue to hold at mostly steady levels on
light reported volume. Demand varies from good demand for alfalfa/grass mix and high
testing alfalfa, to moderate demand at best for lower quality alfalfa. Interest has
picked up in the past week, as more cow/calf operations have started to wean and market
their spring calves. The recent weather pattern has made it very challenging for hay
producers to be able to put up quality hay as the cool temps, rain and heavy overnight
dews have created almost impossible drying conditions. All hay and straw sold by the
ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.
