Missouri Weekly Hay Summary

Week ending 09/22/2017

   Even though parts of the state got rain this past week the latest drought 
monitor has showed an increase in the amount of the state in drought status. 
Still several producers mostly in none grain areas baling some fall hay that 
grew before it got dry.  There has been some reports of producers who have 
chosen to market spring calves a bit ahead of schedule in order to save some 
grass as there just hasn’t been much if any fall growth to allow for some 
stockpiling of pastures before frost.  Hay supplies are moderate, demand is 
light and prices are steady. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a
