Nebraska Hay Summary

Week Ending September 29, 2017

Compared to last week alfalfa, grass hay, ground and delivered
hay sold steady. Dehy pellets in the east sold steady to 7.00 higher and
in the Platte valley sold 5.00 lower. Another week of variety of demand
across the state ranging from light to good. There is still a lot of
forages to be sold this fall and a lot of “off” forages to be baled after
soybean and corn is combined. Nice general rain across most of the state
over the weekend with some areas reporting up to 7 inches. Corn and bean
harvest is at a standstill for the time being as farmers are waiting for
fields to dry. Few, reports of producers wanting to cut either a 4th or
5th cutting of alfalfa this fall if Mother Nature will cooperate. All
sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise
noted.
