Week Ending September 29, 2017 Compared to last week alfalfa, grass hay, ground and delivered hay sold steady. Dehy pellets in the east sold steady to 7.00 higher and in the Platte valley sold 5.00 lower. Another week of variety of demand across the state ranging from light to good. There is still a lot of forages to be sold this fall and a lot of “off” forages to be baled after soybean and corn is combined. Nice general rain across most of the state over the weekend with some areas reporting up to 7 inches. Corn and bean harvest is at a standstill for the time being as farmers are waiting for fields to dry. Few, reports of producers wanting to cut either a 4th or 5th cutting of alfalfa this fall if Mother Nature will cooperate. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted. Eastern/Central Nebraska Alfalfa: Supreme large square bales 160.00; Premium large square bales 140.00-150.00. Premium small square bales 190.00. Good large round bales 80.00-100.00. Grass Hay: Premium large round bales 100.00-105.00; Good large round bales 80.00-95.00; Good large rounds of brome grass 85.00. Premium small square bales 150.00. Oat hay in large round bales 100.00. Ground and delivered alfalfa 110.00. Dehy Alfalfa pellets 17 percent protein 197.00-210.00; Organic dehy alfalfa pellets instances 300.00. Platte Valley area of Nebraska Alfalfa: Good round bales 80.00-90.00. Ground and delivered alfalfa 120.00-125.00. Ground and delivered cane 110.00, Ground and delivered cornstalks 90.00-95.00. Dehy pellets 17 percent protein 185.00.
