Week Ending September 15, 2017 Compared to last week alfalfa, grass hay, ground and delivered forages and dehy pellets sold steady. Demand was moderate to good. Some producers are finishing up on third cutting while others have started on fourth. After all of the August rains, there will be a lot of cane and millet to be baled or chopped. Many feedlots have starting to chop corn- silage with a few testing fields of high moisture corn. Most reports that corn is testing in the mid 30’s or higher for moisture in the central part of the state. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted. Eastern/Central Nebraska Alfalfa: Good large square bales 140.00-150.00, Good large round bales 80.00-100.00. Grass Hay: Premium large round bales 105.00; Good large round bales 80.00-95.00. Premium small square bales 150.00. Cane in large round bales 60.00. Ground and delivered alfalfa 110.00. Dehy Alfalfa pellets 17 percent protein 185.00-210.00. Organic dehy alfalfa pellets 17 percent protein 300.00. Platte Valley area of Nebraska Alfalfa: Supreme large round bales 110.00, Good round bales 85.00-90.00. Ground and delivered alfalfa 120.00-125.00. Ground and delivered cane 110.00, Ground and delivered cane/cornstalk mix 95.00, Ground and delivered cornstalks 90.00-95.00. Dehy pellets 17 percent protein 190.00.
