Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market

All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.

Compared to last week: Very limited reported sales this week, majority of prices are from last week.
Demand has moderate at best, as corn silage harvest has started for many producers. Temperatures this
past week have been in the upper 80's-90's for day time highs with over night lows down to the mid 40's.
Heavy dews continue to create drying issues for those that are working on finishing up 4th cutting
or even their 5th in some cases. There is an abundance of lower quality hay that was put up this
year due to untimely rains and high humidity. The US Drought Monitor Map for this week shows overall
very little changes with the exception of of two areas in west central and the north western areas
totalling just over 7 percent of the state in Extreme drought conditions (up almost 1 percent from last
week). All hay and straw sold by the ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.
