All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack. Compared to last week: All classes of hay and straw sold mostly steady. Demand mostly moderate, as some end users are starting to shift their focus to corn silage harvest. 3rd cutting of alfalfa has been a challenge to get put up correctly, as rains and heavy dews overnight that don't burn off till mid-afternoon has hindered baling. Some reported having hay that laid in the windrow for close to two weeks before being suitable to bale. The Drought Monitor map for this week held mostly unchanged, with many of the counties along the I-29 Corridor no longer being shown as in drought status.
