According to the US drought Monitor, Much of the southwest and west was dry and
hot over the past week. But this is also the dry season in much of the area.
States along the Pacific Coast are still seeing surpluses given the heavy rains
and large snow packs earlier this year. According to the NASS Acreage Report
June 30, 2017, California alfalfa acreage is 1,200,000 which is unchanged from
last year’s acres. All hay is reported FOB the stack or barn unless otherwise
