Missouri Weekly Hay Summary

Week ending 06/02/2017

Some farmers managed to work around rain and managed to get some hay baled
in the short windows of fair weather this week.  Unfortunately many also had
to do a lot of clean up from heavy winds and in some cases large hail that
occurred the end of last week. Hay yields have been very mixed from reports
of harvest so far. Frist cutting of Alfalfa is at 47 percent complete and
other hay is at 22 percent according to the latest crop progress report.
Those numbers fall right in line with the five year average. Hay movement
is light, supplies are moderate, demand is light and prices are steady to
weak. The Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available
for both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory visit
http://mda.mo.gov/abd/haydirectory/ for listings of hay
