Nebraska Hay Summary

Week Ending June, 02, 2017

   
    Compared to last week alfalfa, grass hay, ground and delivered hay
and dehy alfalfa pellets sold steady. Around 25 percent of the first
cutting of alfalfa has cut and has been put up as dry baled hay, baleage
or haylage. Also, some feedlots are cutting pivots of wheat for silage
and are going to plant soybeans when the wheat is off. Most reports of
good quality hay on the first cutting with humidity really low hay is
getting dried and baled in good fashion.  Dehy operators have been busy
running plants. Standing alfalfa hay price has been set at 45.00 per ton
in the Platte Valley area of the state. All sales are dollars per ton FOB
the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.

Eastern/Central Nebraska
Alfalfa: New Crop: Supreme large square bales 180.00; Premium large
square bales 155.00. Old Crop: Supreme large square bales 150.00. Good
large square bales 120.00-130.00. New Crop: Good round bales 80.00. Old
Crop: Good round bales 65.00-70.00. Grass Hay: New Crop: Good to Premium
large square bales 95.00. Old Crop: Good large round bales 60.00-70.00
with some at 80.00. Premium small square bales of grass hay 120.00.
Haylage: 140.00 delivered converted to a dry basis.   

Platte Valley area of Nebraska
Alfalfa: New crop: Good round bales 70.00. Old crop: Good round bales
60.00 to 70.00. Ground and delivered alfalfa 90.00-100.00. Ground and
delivered cornstalks 70.00-75.00. New Crop Dehy pellets 17 percent
protein 185.00.
