Weekly Texas Hay Report

  Compared to last report:  Hay traded steady to firm as movement picked 
up to moderate.  A wide spread on dairy quality Alfalfa was caused by 
distance and freight.  A variety of hay on the market which is typical of 
this time of year as producers are busy baling hay.  East and South 
Coastal Bermuda producers were bracing for the tropical storm that is 
predicted to bring large amounts of rainfall.  Prices for hay and pellets 
quoted per ton except where noted.

Panhandle/High Plains:
   Alfalfa: Large Squares: Delivered: Premium to Supreme 170.00-230.00; 
  Good to Premium 160.00-170.00.
       Small Bales: Delivered: Premium to Supreme 288.75, 8.75 per 
  bale.
   Ground Alfalfa: Delivered to feedlots: 140.00-152.00. Calf 155.00-
  160.00.
   Coastal Bermuda: Large Rounds: Delivered: Good to Premium 125.00- 
  180.00.
  Small Bales: FOB: 250.00, 7.50 per bale. 
   Wheat Hay: Large Bales: Delivered: Bearded 104.00-125.00; Beardless 
  130.00-135.00.
