Week Ending June 16, 2017 Compared to last week alfalfa hay sold fully to firm. Grass hay, ground and delivered hay and dehy alfalfa pellets sold steady. Quite a lot of buyer inquiry this week from the Dakota’s. Since most of South Dakota and North Dakota is very dry. Dakota livestock producers are trying to procure some hay to keep from selling off their herds. Majority of the 1st cutting of alfalfa is done with some producers starting on 2nd cutting. Some 1st cutting of grass is cut and wrapped too. Some areas of the state received rain, with some hail and high winds early in the week. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
