Week Ending June 30, 2017
Compared to last week alfalfa, grass hay and ground hay sold fully
steady. Dehy alfalfa pellets sold mostly steady to 5.00 lower on the top
side of the market. Demand is light to moderate within the state. With
moderate to good demand noted from buyers in the Dakotas. Some areas of
Nebraska looks good for this time of year with other areas of the state
are dry. Early grass hay production reports of tonnage a tick less than
last year. But, last year’s production was really good in several areas.
Most alfalfa producers are on second cutting with a handful of producers
in the Eastern side of the state have started on third cutting. All sales
are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
